Ultra-Low-Power Voltage Detectors Supervisory Circuits
MAX6461-MAX6466 family ultra-low-power voltage detectors reset supervisory circuits monitors battery, power-supply, system voltages. Each circuit includes precision bandgap reference, comparator, internally trimmed resistor networks that specified trip thresholds, internal threshold hysteresis circuit (see Functional Diagram). Output asserted when falls below internal VTH- remains asserted until rises above VTH+ (VTH+ VTH- 1.05). These devices provide excellent circuit reliability cost eliminating external components adjustments when monitoring nominal system voltages from +1.6V +5.5V. MAX6461/MAX6462/MAX6463 voltage detectors with propagation delay 17µs. MAX6464/MAX6465/MAX6466 supervisory circuits with minimum reset timeout period 150ms. devices available with thresholds from +1.6V +5.5V 100mV increments. family available with three output stage options: push-pull with active-low output, push-pull with activehigh output, open drain with active-low output. These devices available SC70 SOT23 packages specified over -40°C +125°C temperature range. Detailed Description
MAX6461/MAX6462/MAX6463 voltage detectors MAX6464/MAX6465/MAX6466 reset supervisory circuits monitor battery, power-supply, system voltages from +1.6V +5.5V. These devices consume only supply current with 3.6V supply voltage. Whenever falls below internal VTH- threshold, output asserted remains asserted until rises above VTH+ (VTH+ VTH- 1.05). devices have ±2.5% threshold accuracy over temperature offer protection short voltage transients. These devices ideal low-cost space-critical applications because they require external components proper operation.

MAX6461-MAX6466 feature internal hysteresis that creates trip points: rising supply voltage falling supply voltage. hysteresis prevents output from oscillating (chattering) when near voltage threshold.

These devices relatively immune short-duration falling transients (glitches). Typical Operating Characteristics show Maximum Transient Duration Threshold Overdrive graph, which asserted. graph shows maximum pulse width that falling transient typically might have before devices asserted. amplitude transient increases, maximum allowable pulse width decreases.

Ensuring Valid Output Down
When falls below MAX6461/MAX6464 output sinking capability reduced. Therefore, highimpedance CMOS logic inputs connected drift undetermined voltages. This presents problem most applications, because most circuitry inoperative when below applications where must valid down ground, pulldown resistor ground stray leakage currents flow ground, holding low. Select resistor large enough load small enough pull ground. most applications, 100k does load pulls ground.

Interfacing Different Logic Voltage Components
MAX6463 MAX6466's active-low, open-drain output versions used interface with different logic voltage than VCC, shown Figure This output structure sinks current when asserted. Connect pullup resistor from supply from Select resistor value large enough allow valid logic (see Electrical Characteristics) small enough register logic high while supplying input current leakage paths connected pin.
