Atmel ATDH40M prototyping system allows designers quickly economically evaluate Atmel's family AT40K FPGA devices AT17 FPGA configuration memory devices. ATDH40M board connects parallel port through 10-pin header cable program AT40K FPGA, through parallel port cable program AT17 FPGA Configuration EEPROMs. motherboard interfaces with various daughter boards order program different AT40K FPGA package footprints (see Table Table Daughter Board Support List

Power Configuration
Power motherboard come from sources. supplied either jack inputs power input source that will drive motherboard determined switch SW3. Power supplied jacks uses external setting. Power supplied source uses internal setting. Voltage motherboard latter setting regulated switch SW2. parts 3.3V setting while rest 5.0V setting. will light only when power correctly supplied VCC. Program/Boot Settings
Switches determine program boot settings ATDH40M. They located bottom left corner. Table lists switch combinations their effects. controls /SEREN signal line motherboard multiplexer (device AT17 (device U1). connects signal from AT40K FPGA device either AT17 configuration memory device only (down) interface (up). Programming AT40K FPGA Device
When AT40K FPGA ammed rfac ATDH40M interfaces with through 10-pin header socket located bottom right corner. Programming FPGA possible using parallel port interface motherboard. Located below header mode-select dip-switches DIP-SW1. These control mode settings AT40K FPGA device (switches M2). modes directly supported motherboard only mode mode mode Programming AT40K FPGA from achieved from desktop using software downld40.exe. Both tools accept ASCII bitstream files generated software (.BST).
Programming AT17 Configuration Memory Device
When down AT17 FPGA configuration memory programmed parallel port interface located left corner. Programming AT17 FPGA Configuration EEPROM possible using 10-pin header Programming AT17 FPGA Configuration EEPROM from achieved from desktop using software cf.exe supplied software version cf.exe.This software accepts ASCII bitstream files (.BST) generated IDS.
Programming AT40K FPGA using AT17 Configuration Memory
When down, AT17 Configurator program FPGA mode ensure reliable system power-up, jumper JMP1 (located below Configurator socket). Configurator must programmed prior this setup.
Troubleshooting
Check that motherboard connected either through parallel port through 10-pin header. Check that motherboard power (SW1) power configuration switches correct. Make sure programming configuration switches correct. Verify that daughter card inserted correctly that receives power. Verify that FPGA device and/or FPGA Configurator placed their sockets correctly. mode switches before downloading FPGA. GCLK/FCLK jumpers before verifying FPGA logic.
