| Application Note: Limiters Limiters Mini-Circuits' limiters cover a very broad frequency range from 3 KHz to 900 MHz, dynamic range from +3 to +20 dBM, and provide exceptionally hard limiting of 0.05 dB output change per dB input change. All models have been designed to provide very small phase variations as the input level is changed. A bias current of only 3 mA from a 50 ohm source is required to excite a limiter. When the RF signal level available is not within the dyna www.datasheetarchive.com/files/mini-circuits/html/lim10-2.htm |

| Application Note: VCO Reducing power supply noise in VCO's Pactical Techniques It is always a good design philosophy to provide RF bypassing of power and dc control lines to the VCO. This is indeed the case when the VCO is located some distance away from the power supply. RF chokes and good bypassing capacitors of approximately 1000 pf to 0.1 F is recommended at the DC supply lines. This will minimize the possibility of feedback between stages in a complex subsystem. | Application Note: VCO Synthesizer Design The following section describes the design features of a synthesizer using Mini-Circuits VCO's together with an integrated serial synthesizer and a passive loop filter. It is ideal for use in portable applications where high performance, low power consumption, and small size is required. The design example covered here is an 800 to 900 MHZ synthesizer in 100 kHz steps with a minimum output power of 10 mW across the band. | Application Note: VCO Footprints LAYOUT CONSIDERATIONS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE Three basic types of VCO's are manufactured by Mini-Circuits: Plug-in, Surface Mount, and Connectorized versions. To obtain the best overall performance from Mini-Circuits VCO's, good RF practices should be used. A double sided printed circuit board with plated through holes is recommended. | Application Note: Electronic Attenuators Electronic Attenuators An electronic attenuator may be viewed as a variable resistor controlled by current through its control port. If a pure signal is applied at its input, harmonics will not be generated over most of the device's operating frequency range; however, some amount of harmonics will appear at the very low frequency end of the band with the amplitude determined by input power level and frequency. | Application Note: Operating Precautions For Amplifiers Operating precautions for Amplifiers RF Amplifiers are designed to be reliable when operated under specified conditions. They find many applications because they provide maximum performance in characteristics such as frequency bandwidth, output power, and noise figure. To do this, amplifiers utilize high performance semiconductor components, which are sensitive and can be damaged if subjected to EOS (electrical overs www.datasheetarchive.com/files/mini-circuits/html/an60008.htm |

| Application Note: Electronic Attenuators Most Often Asked Questions About Electronic Attenuators Q. As per the schematic of an electronic attenuator, it appears the device is just an application of a conventional mixer. Why should I have to use this device, when your conventional mixer is much cheaper? A. The electronic attenuator is a special mixer design to produce low harmonics, high compression, and better intermodulation performance. | Application Note: Phase Detectors Phase Detectors Mini-Circuits high efficiency phase detectors are the only units in the world offering a figure-of-merit greater than 125. The figure-of-merit M or efficiency of a phase detector can be defined as the ratio of maximum DC output voltage (in mV) divided by the RF power (in dBm). The maximum DC output from these units is 1000 mV with +7 dBm applied to the LO and RF ports. Thus, its figure-of-merit M is 143, which indicates a highly www.datasheetarchive.com/files/mini-circuits/html/detectors12-2.htm |

| Application Note: MAR-7SM & ERA-1SM Comparison of MAR-7SM and ERA-1SM The ERA-1SM Amplifier which is specified up to 8 GHz has a much flatter gain over a given frequency range than the MAR-7SM, which is specified only up to 2 GHz. Typical flatness of the ERA-1SM up to 2 GHz is -0.5 dB and the MAR-7SM is -2.5 dB. Above 2 GHz, the gain for the MAR-7SM drops sharply while ERA-1SM's gain stays reasonably flat. The ERA-1SM at 30 mA has a closer resemblance to the MAR-7S www.datasheetarchive.com/files/mini-circuits/html/an60006.htm |
