The new ST Low Voltage CMOS STD Logic families such as LCX, LVQ, LVX and the recently introduced VCX are designed to help application engineers get a better performance, less power consumption, high speed and increased reliability from their new design. Another feature of the LCX and VCX families is the powerdown protection that puts all the inputs and outputs of the device in high impedance state when the Vcc is grounded, i.e. the device is powered off. This feature helps the design of distributed supply systems with advanced power supply management. The VCX devices optionally contain input structures with bus hold to support PCB large V (n-1) outputs input signal static low output VOLP VOLV t Ground Bounce: Typical Waveform The Low Voltage Logic products are designed with the most advanced CMOS sub-micrometric technologies to achieve high speed operation with low power consumption. For the LVQ and LVX families the specification of simultaneous switching noise - also known as ground bounce - is very severe. The ground bounce is a noise voltage induced on a static LOW output during switching HIGH-LOW of other outputs. This induced voltage is determined mainly by the parasitic inductance of the package leads and bonding wires. The LCX family presents 5V tolerance either in input or output, whereas others, like the LVX, are tolerant in input only. Currently this is an important feature since traditional 5V devices coexist with new ones at a lower voltage in many applications. Our new 2.5V VCX family offer a 3.3V tolerance either in input to output. scale integration and low-power oriented design. By our patent pending circuit we are able to hold in the inputs previous logic state when the input signal is removed (if, for instance, the bus driver is put in high-Z state or is turned off). The combination of low power dissipation, flexible power-supply design, high noise immunity and fan-out capability have made this logic family extremely popular. High Speed CMOS offers designers logic integrated circuits with power consumption lower than logic integrated circuits and high switching speeds equal to that of LSTTL. These devices also have a better noise margin and an improved voltage and temperature operating range. In addition, they are pin-to-pin compatible with either LSTTL or the conventional CMOSB series. This reduces the need for logical re-design when they are adopted as replacements in design using LSTTL or CMOSB series devices. Extensive kits covering all standard requirements are available for both families. The ACMOS family exhibits a unique combination of high speed, low power dissipation, high noise immunity, wide fanout capability, extended power supply range and high reliability. This family are pin compatible with industry standard LSTTL and HCMOS type.
