Digital Entertainment VES2750 VES2750 MPEG-2 Tr a n s p o r t Demultiplexer & Peripheral Contr o l l e r OVERVIEW The VES2750 VES2750 IC contains a MPEG-2 transport stream demultiplexer, DVB descrambler and a comprehensive I/O subsystem. When used with the companion VES6200 VES6200 MPEG-2 Decoder Controller chip, the two devices leverage the advantages of VLSI's advanced 0.2-micron mixed signal process technology, low-cost circuit packaging, and unified memory architecture to deliver a highperformance, low-cost digital video design solution easily adaptable to all major world broadcasting standards and delivery modes. The transport demultiplexer subsystem handles MPEG-2 transport streams of up to 60 Mbps (serial) or 7.5Mbps (parallel). It parses the streams to frame the MPEG-2 packets, and then routes the extracted packets to the VES6200 VES6200 as either video, audio, teletext, or data. The transport demultiplexer is based on a high-performance RISC engine. The flexibility and the filtering capabilities of the demultiplexer subsystem make it especially suited for high performance EPG filtering. This subsystem includes a DVB descrambler. The VES2750 VES2750 also performs Program Clock Reference (PCR) recovery to maintain audio and video synchronization. It features robust error handling with error source for interrupt status and interrupt mask. The I/O subsystem contains all major peripheral functions required for a set-top box. The VES2750 VES2750 contains an interface to IEEE 1394 Link ICs.
