nvTimeTM nvTimeTM DESCRIPTION Simtek's family of real time clock products are based on the STK1700 STK1700 chip set which consists of a very low power clock chip (STK17442 STK17442) and a parallel interface controller chip (STK17441 STK17441). Together, these devices can easily integrate a capacitor-powered clock into 8 addresses of your memory system. The memory system can consist of nonvolatile SRAM as Simtek has done with its nvTimeTM modules or it can be part of a user-defined memory system. PRODUCT FEATURES s Data integrity of Simtek nvSRAM combined with full-featured real-time clock s Stand-alone nonvolatile memory and timekeeping solution; no other parts required s No batteries or contacts to fail s Not sensitive to undershoot or Vcc rise and fall times s Fast 25ns to 45ns read/write access times s Software and AutoStoreTM controlled nonvolatile cycles s Year 2000 compliant with leap year compensation s 24-hour BCD format s 100 year data retention over full industrial temperature range s Unlimited read and write capability s Full 30-day RTC operation on each power loss s Single 5V ±10% power supply The Simtek nvTimeTM modules contain 256Kb (STK1744 STK1744) or 64Kb (STK1743 STK1743) of nonvolatile static RAM, a real-time clock (RTC) with crystal and a high-value capacitor to support systems that require high reliability and ease of manufacturing. READ and WRITE access to all RTC functions and the memory is the same as a conventional x 8 SRAM. The highest eight addresses of the RAM support clock registers for centuries, years, months, dates, days, hours, minutes and seconds. Independent data resides in the integral EEPROM at all times. Automatic RECALL on power-up transfers the EEPROM data to the SRAM, while an automatic STORE on power-down transfers SRAM data to the EEPROM. A software RECALL and STORE are also possible on user command. nvTimeTM allows unlimited READ and WRITE access to SRAM, unlimited RECALLs and 106 STOREs. The nvTimeTM modules are available in a 28 pin 600-mil package, or in their component form for surface mount applications. Additional package options are expected in the future.
