Designing To Support Both STK14D88 STK14D88 & STK14C88-3 STK14C88-3 Products in Your System Simtek has launched a new family of 0.25 micron nvSRAM products that bring new benefits to your design: · · · · · nvSRAM densities of 256Kb and 1Mb Wider power supply range (+2.7V to +3.6V) Faster 25 ns speed grade New smaller footprint 48-pin SSOP Package Small VCAP requirement to reduces board space Some customers may wish to consider designing systems that support both our earlier 0.8 micron 256Kb products and our new 0.25 micron products in the same design and footprint: · · · You already have an existing STK14C88-3 STK14C88-3 design and may wish to provide the option to upgrade to the STK14D88 STK14D88 in the future You want to support both products to assure continuous supply as your demand ramps. You want the lowest production price now but option to move to newer technology later. The STK14C88-3 STK14C88-3 product in the 32-pin SOIC package is still our highest volume production product and carries a lower sales price. You may wish to support both products in your design so that you can move to the STK14D88 STK14D88 when its price drops in the future. Design Considerations to Support Both Products The 32-pin SOIC version of the STK14D88 STK14D88 is pin and function compatible with the STK14C88-3 STK14C88-3 with some exceptions noted in the product comparison chart below.
