Fibre Optic Modem ODW-632 ODW-632 RS-422/485 RS-422/485 to fibre optic link, redundant ring or multidrop applications The ODW-632 ODW-632 can be used to create either redundant ring or multidrop solutions for devices with RS-232 RS-232 interfaces. The ODW-632 ODW-632 is designed for harsh industrial usage as well as road or railway installations meeting industrial level EMC specifications and having a wide operating temperature range. The maximum distance of a fibre link depends on selected transceiver and fibre type. Fibre distances up to 80 km (50 miles) are possible on each leg of the ring meaning huge rings over 1000 km (621.4 miles) in circumference could be created. The unit also has a re-timing function that eliminates the problem of jitter and hence ensures reliable communications in all situations. The unit has LED indication to display fault conditions as well as relay contacts that can be connected to a PLC or similar device to allow network problems to be diagnosed at a central point. It is possible to mix ODW-632 ODW-632 with ODW-622 ODW-622 in a network and hence have both RS-232 RS-232 and RS-422/485 RS-422/485 devices in the same network. It is possible to use the ODW-621 ODW-621 or ODW-631 ODW-631 at start/end points in a multidrop application together with ODW-632 ODW-632. Configuration and diagnostics Easy to configured with DIP-switches. Harsh industrial environment The units are well prepared for use in harsh industrial environments. Total galvanic isolation and transient protection are standard for all interfaces. The line interfaces are also equipped with extensive protection against over-currents and voltage suppression. The DIN mounted case of the unit makes it easy to mount. The surrounding air temperature to be between 40 to 60°C. To allow for uninterrupted communication the units are supplied with redundant power inputs that can be powered from two separate supplies and handle an operating voltage range of 10 60 VDC. Approvals The construction of the units has gone through extensive testing and approvals both by Westermo and accredited test houses. The ODW-632 ODW-632 has approvals for industrial as well as railway use.
