SYSTEM SOLUTION Jan/2007 SYSTEM SOLUTION DVB-T Front-end Reference Design Freescale Semiconductor and Micronas offer a joint DVB-T front-end reference design. Built around the Freescale MC44S803 MC44S803 CMOS silicon tuner and Micronas' DRX 3978D 3978D COFDM demodulator, the reference design offers a step forward in DVB-T reception performance, power consumption and system cost reduction. Both the silicon tuner and the COFDM demodulator are especially designed to exceed all relevant DVB-T receiver specifications, including the NorDig-Unified v1.0.2 and DTG specifications. Freescale MC44S803 MC44S803 Features Single-chip CMOS broadband tuner: 48 - 861 MHz RF input Wide gain control range: >80 dB AGC range Very low noise figure: 7.5 dB Evaluation Kit The Freescale tuner and Micronas' demodulator control software has been combined into a single, easy-to-use driver software.
