It operates with triple +5V/+3.3V/+1.8V power supplies. The transceiver is compatible with the industry standard XFP connector and cage and conforms to the 10Gbps small Form-factor Pluggable (XFP) multisource agreement (MSA). E2O Communications, Inc. The transceiver consists of optical subassemblies (OSA) for both the transmitter and the receiver, and an electrical subassembly. All are packaged together in a metal enclosure. The transmitter OSA has a high-performance 1310-nm DFB laser with back facet monitor. The receiver OSA has a high speed InGaAs PIN type detector with a built-in preamplifier. All ES10xx-LDTTA transceivers also include state-ofthe-art circuitry designed to restore signal quality of the high speed 10Gbps serial data inputs and outputs. It ensures that the serial data can be transmitted over as much as 200mm (8") of host FR-4 printed circuit board with no adverse effects. With enhanced FR-4 (e.g. NELCO 4000-13) this can be increased to 300mm (12"). A serial EEPROM in the transceiver allows the user to access transceiver monitoring and configuration data via the 2-wire XFP Management Interface. This interface uses a single address, A0h, with a memory map divided into a lower and upper area. Basic digital diagnostic (DD) data is held in the lower area while specific data is held in a series of tables in the high memory area. The user can monitor transceiver parameters including module temperature, power supply voltage, laser bias current, laser power and received optical power. Alarms and Warnings are provided when the monitored parameters exceed pre-defined threshold values which are held in lower memory. Details of the XFP 2-Wire Interface Protocol and the module's Management Interface are contained in the XFP Multi-Source Agreement (www.xfpmsa.org). Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) & Immunity The ES10xx-LDTTA transceivers, with their shielded design, have reduced emissions to assist the designer in the management of the overall equipment EMI performance. The ES10xx-LDTTA transceiver has been designed to provide good immunity to radio-frequency electromagnetic fields. Key components to achieve good electromagnetic compliance (EMC) are the module's solid metal housing and the XFP cage which includes an EMI gasket on the front. Eye Safety The ES10xx-LDTTA 1300-nm laser-based transceivers have been designed to meet Class 1 eye safety standards. They conform to FDA 21CFR 21CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 and IEC 60825-1. 26679 W.
