Functionality Hardware Features Software Features - WinEASY The ATM622 ATM622 evaluation board contains a complete ATM linecard/switch which is capable of handling up to 8k connections with a throughput of 622 Mbps. A real time driver system and an easy-to-use graphical user interface (WinEASY) allows direct interaction with the ATM devices via a standard PC. An Intel i386EX CPU on the ATM layer board implements the kernel and modular driver system. The driver system is controlled by the WinEASY software running on the host PC. A set of command and indication messages for each ATM device provides a convenient method of implementing complex system functions. Utopia test connectors are provided between all devices for debugging purposes. This message based real time micro kernel was developed mostly in C and creates the basis for the exchange of command and indication messages between the individual software modules. All C source code is available on the CD. The Device Driver Modules (DDM) contain device specific functions and are provided for each individual ATM device. In combination with the Application Program Modules (APM), the DDS and DDM are downloaded onto the ATM layer board and run on the i386EX CPU. The download process and the arrangement of modules is organized by the WinEASY Application Manager. The WinEASY GUI allows the user to send commands (using the Single Step Window) to each individual device of the ATM622 ATM622 chipset. Command parameters may be changed via the Data field in the Single Step Window. The status and result of these commands may be viewed in the Log Window and the Terminal Window. Additional information is also output on the serial port labelled 'terminal'. Commands may be grouped together in a track file to form a complex command sequence. These track files can be saved to disk for future use. These devices are connected back to back via their UTOPIA interfaces to provide complete ATM switch functionality. UTOPIA test connectors and an integrated bypass system allow direct access to each individual ATM device. The ASP and ASM are connected via SLIF ports using the RJ45 connectors. A separate clock unit, power unit and i386EX CPU with periphery (RAMs, interfaces, Flash EEPROMs) complete the ATM layer board. Two RS232 RS232 interface ports are provided, one for the download of software and data to the board (from the host PC) and the other to be used as a debug terminal.
