External Pull-up Needed on CIO, CC4, CC8 CIO rises to CVCC only following a rising edge on I/O. After reset, if I/O is stable at EVCC, if IODIS bit (INTERFACE register) is cleared and DC/DC is switched on, then CIO remains low. Idem for C4/CC4 and C8/CC8. AT83C24 AT83C24 AT83C24NDS AT83C24NDS Errata Sheet Workaround An external resistor (typical 100 k) is needed between CIO, CC4, CC8 and CVCC. 2. External Resistor Needed on EVCC in I/O Level Detection After reset, EVCC follows the level on I/O pin. The consumption on the pins supplied by EVCC is too low to make EVCC follow the I/O level when I/O drops. Workaround An external resistor is needed (typical 100 k) is needed between EVCC pin and VSS. Note: 3. If EVCC is connected to VCC, the external resistor is not needed. Reset Pin Behavior If the Reset input pin falls, the AT83C24 AT83C24 resets immediatly. If a card was active, the deactivation sequence is not performed. 4. Hardware Activation Sequence if No Card The DC/DC should start only if a card is detected. If the CMDVCC level goes from high to low, the DC/DC starts even if no card is detected. 5. CRST Pin During Deactivation Sequence After Hardware Activation A card is inserted and the CMDVCC level goes from high to low. The DC/DC starts. The card is activated according to hardware activation (see datasheet). If the card is extracted, the deactivation sequence starts but the CRST pin follows the CVCC pin instead of falling immediatly (see deactivation sequence in datasheet). Rev. 4283E 4283ESCR09/04 1 AT83C24 AT83C24 Errata 6. Reset Pin only active on falling edge If a falling edge appears on Reset pin, the AT83C24 AT83C24 resets but the device is not kept under reset although the level on Reset pin is 0. 7. Activation with CMDVCC The card presence detection must be configured with CARDDET bit. If the reset value of CARDDET bit doesn't fit to the smart card connector polarity, the AT83C24 AT83C24 detects a card presence even if no card. A falling edge on CMDVCC will then start the DC/DC even if no card is inserted. 8. A2 or A2/2 selection for CKS[2:0] in CONFIG2 register The user can't directly select A2 or A2/2 after a reset or when switching from CKS[2:0] = (0, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7) to CKS[2:0] = (4, 5). To select A2, the user should select A2/2 first and after A2. To select A2/2, the user should select A2 first and after A2/2. 2 4283E 4283ESCR09/04 Atmel Corporation 2325 Orchard Parkway San Jose, CA 95131, USA Tel: 1(408) 441-0311 Fax: 1(408) 487-2600 Regional Headquarters Europe Atmel Sarl Route des Arsenaux 41 Case Postale 80 CH-1705 CH-1705 Fribourg Switzerland Tel: (41) 26-426-5555 Fax: (41) 26-426-5500 Asia Room 1219 Chinachem Golden Plaza 77 Mody Road Tsimshatsui East Kowloon Hong Kong Tel: (852) 2721-9778 Fax: (852) 2722-1369 Japan 9F, Tonetsu Shinkawa Bldg. 1-24-8 Shinkawa Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0033 Japan Tel: (81) 3-3523-3551 Fax: (81) 3-3523-7581 Atmel Operations Memory 2325 Orchard Parkway San Jose, CA 95131, USA Tel: 1(408) 441-0311 Fax: 1(408) 436-4314 RF/Automotive Theresienstrasse 2 Postfach 3535 74025 Heilbronn, Germany Tel: (49) 71-31-67-0 Fax: (49) 71-31-67-2340 Microcontrollers 2325 Orchard Parkway San Jose, CA 95131, USA Tel: 1(408) 441-0311 Fax: 1(408) 436-4314 La Chantrerie BP 70602 44306 Nantes Cedex 3, France Tel: (33) 2-40-18-18-18 Fax: (33) 2-40-18-19-60 ASIC/ASSP/Smart Cards 1150 East Cheyenne Mtn.
