Introduction This document describes how to set up and operate a Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB to operate as a midspan injector for powering a D-Link® DCS-1110 DCS-1110 IP Camera. Images from the D-Link® camera can then be viewed on a standard web browser running on a PC connected directly to the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB's Ethernet network device port. 2. Hardware Requirements 12 V wall-wart adapter (to power Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB)-shipped with Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB kit. Install the D-Link® software completely, according to the instruction instructions from D-Link®. 2. Disconnect the PC from all wired LAN (Ethernet) and wireless connections. 3. The PC must now be configured to allow direct network connections to the DCS-1110 DCS-1110 IP camera. To do this in Windows 2000, go to the "start" menu and open up the "Network Connections" menu. a. Select the "Local Area Connection" with the left mouse key, then right mouse click to change the properties, as shown in Figure 3. b. Go to the "General" tab. c. Scroll down the list and select the "TCP/IP" settings by clicking once on the TCP/IP item on the last line in the list. d. The Internet Protocol/TCP/IP menu will appear. e. Select the "Alternate Configuration" tab. f. On the "Alternate Configuration" tab, select the "User Configured" option. g. Enter the following options in the User Configured menu (as shown in the screen shot below): i. Select "User Configured". ii. Enter IP address as 192.168.0.10 (this will be the static IP address for the laptop PC) iii. Enter subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 iv. Enter default gateway as 192.168.0.2 v. Enter preferred DNS Server as 192.168.0.2 vi. Once this is complete, enter OK and then reboot the PC. 5. Using the PoE Camera with an Ethernet LAN Switch The D-Link® PoE camera can be optionally installed in a traditional LAN environment where an Ethernet switch is available. In this case, the switch should not be a PoE-enabled switch, and the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB should be connected between the switch and a host PC running the D-Link® IP camera software, as shown in Figure 2. 5 Ethernet Network Ethernet Network Device Device AC AC outlet outlet Data 1 Ethernet Switch Ethernet Switch Ethernet cable or wireless 2 12 VDC 12 VDC Wall-wart Wall-wart Supply adapter Supply adapter 3 Ethernet cables 7 Host PC Host PC with D-Link with D-Link software software 4 6 Status LED Data + Power Figure 2. Follow the balance of the installation instructions in the following sections of this document to complete the installation when using the camera with an Ethernet switch. \ Figure 3. LAN TCP/IP Setup Rev. 0.1 3 AN336 AN336 6. Setting up the Hardware and D-Link® IP Camera 1. After rebooting the PC, connect one end of the Cat-5 Ethernet cable to the laptop PC's Ethernet port. 2. Connect the other end of the Cat-5 Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 RJ-45 connector (labeled with "To Ethernet" on the PCB) located on the upper right side of the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB. 3. Connect one end of the blue Ethernet cable to the D-Link® camera's RJ-45 RJ-45. 4. Connect the other end of the blue Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 RJ-45 connector (labeled with "To PD") located on the lower right side of the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB. 5. Connect the wall-wart power adapter output to the power input connector on the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB, then to the mains (120 V/240 V) supply. 6. Push the reset pushbutton on the D-Link® camera (located on the back side of the camera). After doing this, the camera should be powered by the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB's PoE supply. The camera's blue LED should be on. 7. Start the D-Link® Setup Wizard software on the laptop PC, as shown in Figure 4. 8. Once the D-Link® operation menu software comes up (Figure 5), proceed to select the following in order: a. Enter "Wizard" b. Enter "Search" to find the IP camera (this may take several attempts the first time the demo is set up, so be patient). You may also have to hit the reset pushbutton on the camera to get the D-Link® software to find the camera. c. Enter "Link". After selecting "Link," the administrator login window will come up, as shown in Figure 6. Enter in "admin" for the login and "admin" for the password (use no quotes, and all entries should be in lowercase). d. The D-Link® 10/100 TX PoE Camera window will appear (Figure 7). If you have followed this installation, the camera images can be seen in this window. e. If you have difficulty getting the images to appear or the "Search" function to find the camera, hit the reset pushbutton on the Si3460-EVB Si3460-EVB, wait 5 seconds, then go through the "Wizard", "Search" and "Link" steps again. 4 Rev. 0.1 AN336 AN336 Figure 4.
