Product testing for the conformity to the safety regulation is to ensure that the products will not be harmful (like electrical leakage, explosion, physical hazardous) to human beings under any normal or abnormal operation conditions. The main purposes of the safety regulation is, firstly, to avoid any possible damage to human life and property when the product is being used and, secondly, to avoid any harmful situation to maintenance personnel when repairing the product. There are various different safety regulations for each country. In Asia, China has CCC; Taiwan has BSMI; Korea has EK-Mark; Japan has PSE, and many other safety laws and regulations for individual countries. Europe has CB Scheme and CE Mark mandatory or voluntary product safety regulation. In North America, there are UL, C-UL marks. For South American countries, Mexico has NOM mark; Brazil has UL-BR Mark / INMETRO ; Argentina has UL-AR Mark / S Mark, and many other mandatory or voluntary safety laws and regulations. Application for the certification in safety is the fundamental requirement to sell electronic devices or machinery to these countries. Touch panel and control board are not listed in most of the mandatory conformity marks. In order to provide better support to her customers in passing individual safety regulation, AMT proactively applied for the UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) IEC 60950-1:2005 (Information Technology Equipment-Safety ­Part 1: General Requirements Second Edition) for product safety assessment and certification. Complete touch product lines of AMT passed the UL certification. Annual budgeting for the file maintenance and on site supervision from the UL Taiwan Co., Ltd. had been realized. This is to ensure that the material used and product produced will confirm to the IEC 60950-1 safety standards. The AMT UL certification file number is E331240 E331240 and Manufacturer ID is 100520-965. Product lines of AMT that passed IEC 60950-1 include the 4-, 5-, and 8-wire resistive touch series, sunlight readable touch series, the Multi-Finger resistive touch and the projected capacitive touch products.
